How Can You Prevent Ebola?
There is currently no vaccine to prevent ebola. The best way to avoid the virus is by not traveling to areas where the virus is prevalent. Healthcare providers prevent self infection by wearing goggles, masks, and gloves whenever they are in contact with people who have Ebola. Ebola is transmitted by coming in direct contact with bodily fluids from an infected person.
How Is Ebola Treated?
There is currently no cure for ebola. To treat the symptoms and virus, there are certain medications that destroy infected cells. Treatment includes an experimental serum that destroys infected cells. Other methods of management are providing an abundance of fluids and electrolytes, giving an oxygen supply, taking blood pressure medication, and receiving blood transfusions.
